Simon Wood – Bass Player

 

 

Simon is a semi-professional bass guitar player living in Chelmsford, Essex

 

He has been playing since 1984, and since then he has had a large amount of experience  in many different settings. His ability to sight read as well as play accurately by ear have meant that he is often in demand.

Bass player for The Ian Stuart Band 1988-1994 , co-founder of Midnight Hour 1995-2007, numerous deps in other function bands including Groovin High,Savoire Faire,Take Five,The Wallace Collection,Band on the Run,The Nat Pack and others including gigs overseas.

 

Jazz:

 

Bass player for NYJO 2(led by Paul Eshelby) from 1988-1991. Various gigs with big bands and small groups since.Regular participant at Jazz at the Bull , Colchester

Jesus Christ Superstar,Little Shop of Horrors (musical director), Oliver,Guys and Dolls,South Pacific,Cabaret,My Fair Lady,A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,Jungle book , Salad Days and others.
